Comprising of the conversion, and extension of two existing office buildings, changing the existing use of the property to form three independent apartments, and four maisonettes, while also being sympathetic to the building’s location within Yeovil’s conservation area.
The design included a substantial two storey rear extension at first floor level, tanking and conversion of the basement, necessary soundproofing between units, and full layout designs.
The project involved careful compartmentation between the units of flooring, stairs and walls to ensure fire and acoustic barriers were in place, and at all times ensuring compliance to the necessary Building Regulations and best practise guidance.
Structural alterations were undertaken to restore the integrity of the existing structure and to enable the construction of the new, two-storey, first floor rear extension by form of a structural timber frame.
The new and old flat roofs were replaced with new GRP systems, and necessary repairs undertaken to the existing roofs. Both roofs and all external walls were thermally upgraded to increase U values of the property, and ensure a continuity of vapour control.
